Freshman Priority FOCUS (High School Seniors)

Applicants who are seniors in high school and have met the admission criteria to Baptist College may be simultaneously considered for admission to the College and to the Nursing program.  Freshmen accepted to both the College and the Nursing program must meet and maintain the following criteria in order to progress to the professional nursing courses.

  • Meet all required freshman admissions criteria
  • Earn a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA in all college level work completed (for high school seniors who are taking college level work while completing high school)
  • Participate in an interview, if required
  • Once enrolled at BCHS, the student must meet the following criteria to maintain guaranteed progression to nursing courses:

-          Complete all lower division coursework (3 trimesters/42 credit hours)

-          Earn a minimum 2.8 GPA in all lower division course work with a grade of C or better in all prerequisite courses

-          Earn a minimum 2.6 GPA in the prerequisite science courses.  In addition, a prerequisite science course may only be repeated once to earn a grade of C or higher; and a maximum of two prerequisite science courses may be repeated to earn the minimum required grade.

-          Participate in an interview, if required

-          Submit a BCHS Intent to Progress form by published due dates.
