The DMS Program at BCHS is very proud of the achievements of all graduates and students. The faculty encourage students to pursue life long learning and participation in scholarly activities. Listed below are many of the achievements and awards earned by current students, alumni, clinical instructors, and faculty.
Alpha Eta Honor Society
The Alpha Eta Honor Society is a National Scholastic Honor Society for Allied Health Professions. Faculty and students are elibigle for membership. The criteria for students include:
- GPA of 3.5 of higher by the end of the Senior Fall Trimester
- Shown capacity for leadership and achievement in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- 2012 Indcutees were Jamie Strutton and Emily Tawater
Several awards for outstanding performance and committment to excellence have been given to DMS alumni, students, and faculty. It is an honor for the DMS Major to recognize them.

2008-DMS Program received a Certificate of Recognition by the SDMS
2008-Cassie James Alexander (2000) received the Young Alumni Award from BCHS
2008-Cindy Owen (1979) and Mitzi Roberts (1994) received the Kenneth R. Gottesfield 1st Place Award for Outstanding Article Contribution to the Journal of Diangostic Medical Sonography
2007-Connie Willis (2004) received the Young Alumni Award from BCHS
2007-Abigail Kurtz (2007) received the St. Francis Bartlett Employee of the Month Award
2005-Mitzi Roberts (1994) received the BCHS Distinguished Faculty Award
2004-Ann Willis (1994) received the SDMS Educational Foundations Research Award
2001-Cindy Owen (1979) received the Distinguished Alumni Award from BCHS
DMS alumni and clinical faculty are often seen in the community serving as presentors at sonography educational events. This demonstrates the desire to educate others in the field of sonography. Students receive basic presentation instruction throughout the DMS curriculum to encourage them to participate in educational events in the future.

The faculty of the DMS major encourage students to participate in scholary activities such as journal article writing. The activity is part of the curriculum and when completed students have the option to submit the final project for publication. We have also had several alumni, clinical instructors, and faculty publish articles as part of their continued committment to life long learning.
- 2011- Mitzi Roberts and Ann Willis published several chapters in the sonography textbook entitled-Textbook of Diagnostic Medical Sonography by Sandy Hagen-Ansert
2009-Patti Whitlock class of 2008 published an article entitled -Cholangiocarcinoma- in the JDMS
2008- Abby Kurtz class of 2007 published Mirror-Image Artifact Mimicking a Carotid Arterial Dissection in the JDMS.
2007-Mitzi Roberts (1994) and Cindy Owen (1979) published Arterial Vascular Hemodynamics in the May 2007 issue of the JDMS.
2005-Sarah Rogers (2004) published Sonographic Evaluation of Arteritis in the March/April 2005 issue of the JDMS.
2005-Ann Willis (1994) published The Thick and Thin of It: What the Carotid Artery Can Tell Us in the November 2005 issue of the JDMS
2002-Ann Willis (1994) published Traction Patient Venous Studies in the May 2002 issue of the JDMS.
2001-Terri Vest (1998), Sharon Hodges (1999) and Darlene Bak More published Subdiaphragmatic Extralobar Pulmonary Sequestration in the January 2001 issue of the JDMS.
